What a visit actually is

One day. Three things happen.

Not an assembly vendor passing through. A teacher who spends his springs in front of supercells, walking your students through what he saw and why it happened.

What students experience

Real footage shot from a few hundred yards away. A vortex forming on the table in front of them. A VR headset that drops them under a rotating wall cloud. By the end they can point at a storm and tell you where the tornado will come from.

What teachers get

Lessons written against grade-level science standards, with the codes published openly so you can check the alignment before you give up a period. Optional pre-visit vocabulary and post-visit discussion prompts arrive as one PDF after booking.

What the school gets

An event students talk about for weeks, at a price a PTO can vote through in one meeting. Nothing is sold to families. No raffle, no merchandise table, no order forms. Certificate of insurance and district paperwork handled before you have to ask twice.

30-Minute Assembly Presentation

The whole school in one sitting. Thirty minutes of storm footage, live demonstrations and severe weather safety that sticks.

Family Night

An evening presentation plus open stations for the whole family. Built for STEM night, back-to-school night, or any evening you need to fill.

The Combo

Book the assembly and Family Night on the same visit and save 10% on the combined price.

Our mission

Why Severe Storms Lab exists

To bring real severe-weather science into K-6 classrooms in a way no textbook can: firsthand storm footage, hands-on demonstrations and a presenter who has actually stood in front of the storm he is describing. The goal is simple: get students genuinely excited about science, while leaving them with the knowledge to stay safe when severe weather comes their way.

Credentials

A teacher who chases. Not a chaser who visits schools.

Both halves of that sentence are earned. The classroom years came first, which is why the lessons land at the right level. The chase years came next, which is why the footage is his own.

20 years

In the classroom as a credentialed teacher, so lessons are built to standards, not to a script.

20+ years

Actively chasing across Tornado Alley. Every clip students see was filmed by him.

Channel 2

Elite Storm Chaser Badge, awarded for verified severe weather reporting from the field.

20 years of classroom teaching + 20+ years of tornado chasing = one wild day of weather!

Elite Storm Chaser Badge awarded by Channel 2.
